Amber Fryklund believes she was born a rink rat.
She was always at Hibbing's Greenhaven
outdoor rink as a youngster and remembers always having
a hockey stick and the passion for a game dominated by
boys.. Yet, Fryklund
thought her time in hockey was over by seventh grade.
After three youth
seasons, she joined her friends who were trying out for
basketball. ``I had quit
hockey, but I still went down to the rink all the time.
I didn't think I would play again, but I
couldn't stay away from it," said Amber.
For the 1993-94 season, the Hibbing Mighty Rangers girls
hockey team was formed and the rink rat returned.
Girls from fifth grade through senior high played two
seasons together. In 1995-96, varsity high school
hockey debuted. |

If
Hibbing had a team for Amber as an 8th and 9th grader, she'd
probably have over 450 career points.
A team for Amber as a 7th grader also, she'd probably have over 500
career points.
