State Championship
Anya Miller's goal 59 seconds into overtime gave Elk
River a 3-2 victory over North St. Paul in the Minnesota
Class AA girls' hockey championship game Saturday night
at Ridder Arena.. North St. Paul
tried to break out of their zone, but the puck went off
their stinks and onto Anya's. Miller fired a low shot from near the Polars' blue line, and the puck trickled through the
pads of goaltender Christina Thompson to give the Elks
(29-2-0) their first state title.
"We threw it out to one of the most dangerous
shooters in the state," North St.Paul coach Marshall said.
