           Gigi Marvin,  Forward,  Warroad

How She Got Started

Gigi Marvin is the granddaughter of the late legendary Cal Marvin.  Cal is in the U.S.Hockey Hall of Fame as a coach, manager, and entrepreneur.  Her father, Mike, played at Brown University.  Aunts Janet and Robin Marvin are mainstays on the Blue Jays, a senior women's team in the Twin Cities.  She has cousins who have played at Dartmouth, North Dakota, and Michigan.

After Gigi learned to walk, the skates were laced up.  "Probably at age 2 or 3," her father, Mike said.  "Then she played with the boys as a Peewee and a Bantam."

Fitted with skates at such a young age?  "It was a no-brainer," Gigi said.  "If you're a Marvin, you're going to play hockey."
