How She Got Started |
The
Romatoski family would
go to the outdoor rink to skate and play
hockey. Kelsey started
her skating at age 2.
One year
after her older
brother began playing organized hockey,
Kelsey started
her hockey At age 4.
She played youth hockey in
the Woodbury area
hockey club, playing mites, squirts and peewees.
In 8th grade, she played with all girls on
Holy
Angels girls high
school team.

Kelsey gained more confidence in her
offensive ability this season. She made
the jump from being a fast and
aggressive player, to being a playmaker.
Kelsey played solid D, and added an
offensive punch. She began to
understand the proper times to jump into
the attack. Her shot improved, along
with her understanding of our offense.
She adds a spark every time she is on
the ice, and was able to play at a
consistent high level over the course of
the season. She has a bright future,
and is well on her way to establishing
herself as one of the top D in the
state.
I
anticipate next year being a break-out
year for her, she was slowed by some
nagging injuries this season

A local
college coach considered Kelsey one of
the top 5 or 6 players in the state. |
|
|
Kelsey was
amazing to watch. She is in a different
league when it comes to speed.
She worked hard on her
shot, and added a much-needed scoring
touch this season. She is able to
create chances in transition with her
speed, and was more patient around the
net this season. She also had the
strength to get quality shots from the
point this season. Kelsey sees the ice
well, and makes good decisions on when
to pass, and when to rush the puck.
Her
speed allows her to take some chances
offensively, while still being able to
recover to our defensive zone.
Defensively
she is tough to beat, and should be able
to establish herself as one of the best
D in the state next year.

Kelsey is an exceptionally fast skater.
Her speed makes her a constant offensive
threat. She can take more chances
as a defender because of her speed.
It gives her the advantage when chasing
loose pucks. |
Kelsey has
a flawless stride, and makes skating
seem almost effortless. She has
worked hard to stay healthy, while
increasing her physical role in the
defensive zone. Kelsey showed that
not only is she an elite D, but she
has the ability to score at any
time. She has the ability to change
the outcome of a game, and even
against the strongest opposition is
the best skater on the ice. She
continues to get better every year,
and will use her senior year to show
she is Ms. Hockey worthy.
