Lindsay Macy,
Senior
No.20, Owatonna
2003 State Tournament |

A Final Tribute
|
Macy Ready to Step into Spotlight
Spectators at the girls state hockey tournament this
week won't see Renee Curtin, Minnesota's all-time
leading scorer. But when fans get a look at
Owatonna, they might begin to wonder if Lindsay Macy
isn't really another of the Curtin sisters.
The
Huskies sophomore center resembles the Curtins (Renee
and Ronda) in two obvious ways. She is
considerably taller, at 5 feet 11, than the average
player in girls hockey -- and she scores a lot more
goals.
Lindsay has developed into one of the most dangerous
offensive players in the state, and her numbers this
season are Curtin-like. She leads the state in
scoring with 63 G, 22 A, 85 Pts. Renee Curtin
finished the season with 61 G, 22 A, 83 Pts.
From article by Mike Fermoyle,
Mpls Star-Tribune,

The prevailing
sentiment in girls' hockey
[by 2003] is that as the sport has grown
and players have developed, the chance of one player
dominating a game has diminished.
However . . .
In the 2003
Section 1AA championship game, Lindsay Macy scored the
two Owatonna goals, both were unassisted, as
Owatonna defeated top-seeded Lakeville, 2-1. Her
second goal came with 50 seconds remaining in overtime.
In the 2003
state Class AA consolation semi-finals, Lindsay scored
all four of Owatonna's goals. Three of the four
goals were unassisted. [But it still wasn't
enough as North St. Paul won in overtime, 5-4. The
lose put a cap on Lindsay's high school career.] |
Lindsay's
career points total is 413 pts. Her coach said
that she could have scored a lot more had he not pulled
her when the score got lop-sided.
She is No.8 on the
Top Career Scorers listing with 413
points.
She is a member of
the Girls All-Time Top Players listing
because of
"First Team All-State" plus "Exceptional
career stats". |
