Rachel Ripley,  Forward,  Farmington

How She Got Started

Rachel's Dad and older brothers all played hockey.   She started skating and playing at the age of 3.   Played with the boys for the first couple of years and then caught on with the girls youth program.   In 7th grade she started the year as a 4th line center, and by the end of the year she was the 2nd line center in the state tournament.

She's fast.   A strong skater.   Aggressive.
Not afraid to get physical despite  her small stature.
   Your basic "blue-collar worker".
   Career:  60 g, 80 a, 140 pts

Rachel really had a breakout year for us [24 goals, 27 assists, for 51 points].   Career totals I have for her 60 goals and 80 assists for 140 points.   A number of college coaches have inquired about her alreadyl.   She's small in stature, but plays big with little fear and an effort second to none.

   Honorable Mention All-State

Rachel is a human highlight reel. She plays from the heart and is a big time player in a small package. She has caught the eye of many college coaches at DI and DIII levels. She is a bonafide DI prospect in my book, her performance this past weekend spoke volumes. A team leader and great role model for younger players. Speed and quickness combined with relentless efforts offensively and defensively. Very creative playmaker and vital part of the success we had this season.

Rachel is hands down a player that individually sets the pace and play of any game she steps on the ice for. She is a natural leader and one of the best playmakers I have seen in boy's or girl's high school hockey. She  has been on the ice for over 75 percent of our goals scored this season thus far. In a year that has been coined as a "rebuilding year" by many outsiders, Rachel has led our team to a winning record and a real contender for post season play.                                                           Coach Holmes,  Jan 6, 2008

Rachel is planning on attending UND and she will attempt to walk on and play.

A Final Tribute

Rip [Rachel ] will be greatly missed next year.  She was a true MVP in 2007-2008 in every sense of the phrase.  She was a leader on our team in overall points, but even more importantly, what an MVP really is, she led our team on and off the ice.  She was the inspirational and character leader in every aspect of the season.  She is also a great role model for our younger players since she is always respectful and is the first one on the ice and last one off the ice every day.  I had more fun coaching this year then I have ever had and that can be attributed to Rip and other seniors making it a great year.  Whether she decides to continue hockey at the collegiate level or not, Rip will be successful in all her endeavors.
