Sarah had two
brothers: Peter (3 years older) and Patrick (7 years
older). Both brothers went on to play college
hockey. Patrick made 2nd team All-State in 1993,
then skated for the Austin Ice Bats of
the CHL.
Sarah, as a
little girl,
undoubtedly watched her brothers play.
She was probably included in pick-up game at the local
rink, in street hockey play, and in shooting the puck in
the driveway. |

| Krissy
Wendell, D/F; Natalie Darwitz, F;
Ronda Curtin, F/D; and
Renee Curtin, F/D were (and still are) the four
best players in Minnesota High School
Girls Hockey history. These four
forwards were on the 1999 All-State
first team. This relegated Sarah to the second team.
There just wasn't room for another "top
quality player". |
